New to Mediation? Mediation is a cooperative process where a trained mediator helps people in a dispute talk and find solutions together. The mediator doesn’t take sides or make decisions but guides the conversation and encourages everyone to understand each other’s needs. It’s different from going to court because it focuses on finding agreements that everyone involved is comfortable with. Mediation is voluntary, so anyone can opt out at any time, and it is confidential, so nothing discussed in mediation can be used in any other process; this gives you more control over the outcome of your dispute while preserving relationships.
